WG of Cardiac Imaging

The Working Group of Cardiac Imaging was founded in 1996. It aims to promote research, teaching and clinical activity of cardiac imaging in the fields of Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiac Computed Tomography and Cardiac Magnetic Resonance imaging as well as Echocardiography together with the Working Group of Echocardiography. The main task of the Working Group is to arrange national training sessions in cardiac imaging. In addition, Cardiac CT Hands on course is arranged annually in the Turku PET Centre. The course focuses mainly on the non-invasive coronary angiography. A course for Cardiac MRI is also organized annually. The Working Group contributes to the program of the Finnish Cardiac Society annual meetings. Those include both basic sessions for trainees in cardiology, radiology and nuclear imaging and more advanced sessions for specialists. The sessions may be arranged in collaboration with other affiliations. Annual training sessions can be found from the Home Page of the Finnish Cardiac Society.

Relationship with ESC

European Society of Cardiology (ESC) has three different interest groups of Cardiac Imaging: Working group (WG) on Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac CT, WG on Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance and European Association of Echocardiography (EAE). These groups have their annual meetings during the ESC Congress. The ESC Working Groups aim to promote research, teaching and clinical activity of different modalities of cardiac imaging. The Working Groups contribute to the organisation of the ESC Annual Congresses and publishes regular newsletters, appropriate guidelines and recommendations. The members of the Finnish Cardiac Society and WG of Cardiac Imaging are highly recommended to join the ESC WG:s.

International Courses of Cardiac Imaging

ESC arranges several international courses and educational sessions of cardiac imaging. The detailed information about the courses can be found on ESC homepage and more specifically on the homepages of the ESC WG:s. Cardiac Nuclear and CT Imaging in Clinical Practice –course is arranged annually in the European Heart House in Nice. Bi-annually is organized the International Conference of Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging, ICNC, which in addition to Nuclear imaging focuses also on Cardiac CT. EuroCMR –Congress is arranged annually in different places in Europe.
