Candidacy of Professor Heikki Huikuri for the ESC Board
Dear colleague,
The Finnish Cardiac Society has proposed Professor Heikki Huikuri for the position of Councillor of the European Society of Cardiology for the period 2012-2014.
Professor Heikki Huikuri has served ESC as a
- Member of the Lectures and Award Committee
- Member of the Nominating Committee of the Board and
- Member of the Accreditation Committee of Subspecialty in Electrophysiology of the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA).
This experience has given him insight on the versatility of the activities of the ESC and the realization of the importance of a teamwork and co-operation in all levels.
Professor Heikki Huikuri can offer ESC and therefore to all national cardiac societies a vast comprehension and experience on harmonizing and promoting the education and training of European cardiologists. He has a substantial background in the development of education and training in cardiology, both at the national and European level. He has served the Union of European Medical Specialists (UEMS) Cardiology Section as a
- Member of the Steering Committee
- Secretary
- President and
- Past President
He has excellent insight on the different issues and themes that the societies are dealing with, and how the international level can support the national societies and colleagues in efforts to promote cardiology as a profession.
His background in science and research gives him an excellent insight for the promotion of research in the field of cardiology.
Professor Huikuri is familiar with the high demanding work in the ESC Board and he is willing and motivated to work for the benefit of all members of the ESC.
